What is MoviPrep? MoviPrep (polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution) is a laxative solution that stimulates bowel movements. This medication also contains minerals to replace electrolytes that are passed from the body in the stool. MoviPrep is used to clean the bowel before colonoscopy, a barium x-ray, or other intestinal procedures. MoviPrep cleans your colon by causing you to have diarrhea (loose stools).
We have provided downloadable MoviPrep instruction sheets to help you understand how to mix and take your MoviPrep doses. However, the time of your procedure will dictate when you should take your doses. It is important that you properly mix the solution, take your doses when instructed by your doctor, and complete the entire prep to ensure the most effective cleansing. Ultimately, you should always follow your doctor’s colonoscopy prep instructions.
multiple, often urgent bowel movements. Moviprep can start working quickly and watery bowel movements are normally seen for at least two hours, however the effects can last a lot longer. I used to section it down into how much I had to drink every quarter of an hour, 3 big sucks through a wide plastic drinking straw then a big swig of tonic water with lemon. Started second Moviprep litre at 6am this morning following same method. Chilling it does make it taste a bit better. It does taste revolting but not as bad as I was expecting. I’ve read some real horror stories & was really worried but after reading your post I feel a lot more at ease!

Just experienced my first colonoscopy after prepping with MoviPrep. Found previous blogs helpful and wanted to add mine. Began clear liquids Monday morning and mixed the first liter of MoviPrep and put it in the fridge. Started drinking the MoviPrep at 4 PM. Added one teaspoon of lemonade powder to 8 oz of MoviPrep, poured it over ice and drank it through a straw. Tasted like salty lemonade with a bitter after taste. Not great but not terrible either. Drank a glass every 30 …
Q: How long does it take for the MoviPrep solution to work? A: The first dose usually works within 2 hours but may take up to 4 hours. The second dose works much faster and is usually completed by 2½-3 hours. Q: What if the first dose of MoviPrep has no effect by 4 hours?
Had my colonoscopy this morning , so Moviprep was yesterday . It’s not bad at all . My instructions said to take the first litre at 5pm , and 2nd at 8-9pm . I started earlier , as I didn’t want to still be on the loo at midnight ! I started the prep at 2pm , took about an hour to drink the first litre , and needed the loo at 4ish Top tips … Wear saggy knickers and tracksuit type bottoms , I would not have had time to undo buttons and unzip trousers .
